Computer freezes every few seconds

I am new to linux, and have Mandrake 10.1 on my laptop.

800 mhz
128 MB ram
10 gb hd

Anyway... my computer freezes up every once in a while? is this common for mandrake? for example... if i take the mouse, and go around in circles on the desktop... after about 20 seconds... the computer will freeze for about 10 seconds... then go back to working.

What is the problem? Anyone know? Thanks...

Are you using KDE or GNOME. Try using a minimalist window manager such as fluxbox or XFCE and see if you get the same error. Maybe you are just running out of memory resources if using larger DE's like GNOME or KDE making your system sluggish.
