Changing settings in Compiz
I'm having a few problems changing visual settings for my desktop (Mandriva One 2007). The biggest issue is that a number of settings don't seem to actually save when I change them in compiz. The other issue is that I can't seem to fully get rid of the orange theme; some scrollbars and the bar at the top of each window is still orange, despite my having changed themes, colors, etc. This also seems to be related to being able to change settings for compiz. Is there something I'm missing here?
On a separate note, I've tested Mandriva One on 2 different systems: P4 Celeron 2.8 256mb DDR333 Intel 865 chipset Radeon 7000 and P4 2.8B 512mb DDR333 VIA P4X400 chipset GeForce 4 Ti4200 For whatever reason, the first system boots relatively quickly and works great while the second system takes forever to boot and ends up hanging after I choose to use XGL (I can move the mouse, but the desktop doesn't load). I might consider XGL to be the problem except it works fine in SUSE and even choosing it on a P4 1.4ghz with a TNT2 video card got me to the desktop. I might consider it to be a matter of unrecognized/supported hardware, but ubuntu, pclinuxos and suse all work perfectly on the system. The only strange hardware in either system is in the first one anyway (DVR capture board) and that system works fine. Anyone have any ideas what I might be missing? |
In case anyone cares, it was a Lexmark printer that caused the hang for whatever reason. After it finished loading I was able to plug the printer in and print to it just fine. I am still having issues with compiz though, which is the more irritating of the problems.
