Changing root password

Thanks for the reply before. I am all set....just....I have alt+0254 in my password and it takes the password in gui mode, but in shell mode it does not. How do I change my password from inside the gui for root?

Thanks.

there must be a menu entry to start konsole as root. Do that and once you are in a terminal, you can change it by simply
passwd
(no need to become root using su this way)
