Changed monitor rez, now black screen?
So I changed the monitor rez to a higher rez in the mandrake control center, and when I logged back in my screen is black. The monitor just flashes "Signal out of Range". I can't see to cange it back. So, what do I do to get it back?

Try this ... get to a command prompt
hmm at the linux bootup screen hit i think it is tab or esc ... the menu should disappear and just give you a black and white screen.. type in linux -3 or linux 3 *can't remember which If you get the right one... X wil not boot up and You will get a login prompt login as root and the goto type the following command XFdrake That should give you a way to change your rez back. After you exit that program type init 6 and let it reboot and hope it works.. Gary |
That did it!
Thanks for the help Gary. |

envoy - Newport Beach! How I miss Southern California (I'm originally from Orange County) One thing I noticed, at least for my CRT monitor, was that I had to enter the EXACT range (right down to the decimal places), or else my monitor would either go down to 75 Hz be default, or not even work. Just something to think about if something like that happens in the future. |
