Question Centrino Wireless on Mandrake 10.0

I am new to Linux and have been able to get everything running except my Wireless Connection. I have been reading many forums about this subject. Many suggest Ndiswrapper, Linuxant drivers, etc. I have tried them all with no success. I have a Toshiba Satelite Pro M15-S405. It is running Windows XP home edition. I am pretty good with all the WLAN, WEP, Router, etc.

Should I get a book and read about Linux before trying to fix this? Many of the items referring to rebuilding the Kernel are obviously new to me. I chose to try Linux because many friends told me of the simplicity and ease of use. So far I see that you do need to be fluent in the Open Source language.

The internal wireless is the Intel Pro/Wireless 9100 3B.
Based on what I am reading it looks like I am going to have to do some manual configurations before these drivers will work properly.
Anyone willing to take a stab at helping me through this?

Thanks,
Jeff

i'd be willing to try. i got my toshiba m30 laptop w/ centrino working using ndiswrapper. you can see what i did here to get mine working. its not too tough to get going, and i started out pretty much in the same boat as you. my email address is on that page if you need any further help.

also, there's a project here on sourceforge that will one day supplant ndiswrapper for using the Intel 2100, but i havent tried switching to it yet, as i'm happy using ndiswrapper for now.
