CDROM mount problems with MDK 10.0 Official on a IBM T30 laptop

My installation of 10.0 official seems to have some trouble when
mounting CDROM's..

I'm using KDE, and first of all, it is not recognizing the cdrom when
I pop in a cd - no icon comes onto the desktop..

When I try to manually mount, I get:

[klakkara@samana mnt]$ mount /mnt/cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc,
or too many mounted file systems

my /etc/fstab has:

/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto
umask=0,user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0 0

So then:

[klakkara@samana mnt]$ mount /dev/hdc/
mount: can't find /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/cd in /etc/fstab or
/etc/mtab

Not sure what I should be doing - is there some configuration problem?
I'm running the latest version of official:

[klakkara@samana mnt]$ uname -a
Linux samana 2.6.3-7mdk #1 Wed Mar 17 15:56:42 CET 2004 i686 unknown
unknown GNU/Linux

Can anyone help?

check dmesg for the device name, maybe it's /dev/sr0

I've the same problem after upgrading from 2.6.3 (everything worked fine) to 2.6.7 (all my cdroms drives are unmountables)

Help would be GREATLY appreciated ;-)

I'm feeling (intuitionally) that supermount has something to do with this (since we're talking about Mandrake, here). The news I heard is that supermount was removed from 2.6.7 (I don't know for sure, as my CD-RW is in the shop).

Any hope that we could see those /etc/fstabs for ourselves (post them, please)?

fixed it!

Hey,

I know this post is alittle old but i was having the same problem and it came up in a search so if your still having this problem its simple.
if you check dmesg you get an error of bad option "codepage=850" or something. edit /etc/fstab to not include that and your ready to mount. thats what helped me, sorry if its not a fix to your problem.
