cdrom issues with 9.2 install

install hangs on either kernel.. 2.6.x or alt0 2.4.x kernel messages include...

<3>hdc: lost interrupt
<4>hdc: request sense failure: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error }

then the same but from status it goes to

error=0x44Aborted Command LastFailedSense 0x04

there was also a mount failed for the iso image
* mount failed: Invalid argument

i have tried numerous cdroms.. i have a k7s5a board sis 735 chipset, xp2400/256ram/geforce fx 5200u/30gig wd/onboard lan/sb live 5.1

how can i get past this.. i really would like to try out mandrake.. ive been a redhat/solaris user...

thanks guys

ok.. it just timed out n says error in exec of stage 2 (sadface)
