cd-burner hates my guts!

Ok i am kind of a newbie but i am not. Lets just say i know enough to be dangerous! The problem i am having is that my cd burner does not want to burn a cd through k3b. I have logged into root in the console and started k3b but i still get the error "cdrecord did not exit cleanly" after it converts the mp3s. I looked all over this forum and googled it but i have found no luck. I am converting the mp3 files i have on my ntfs partion first because it will not burn "on the fly". The ntfs partition is what was left over on my second drive from windows. I provided a cdrecord --scanbus readout and i provided my fstab also. I am really stuck and have no clue what to do. I will also show the debug of k3b when it fails if it helps. I am also using the 2.6.3-7mdk kernel (Mandrake 10.0 offical with all updates applied).

**my fstab**
/dev/hda1 / ext3 noatime 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hda6 /home ext3 noatime 1 2
/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto user,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850,noauto,ro,exec 0$
/dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom2 auto umask=0,user,codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-1,noauto,$
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto user,iocharset=iso8859-1,sync,codepage=850,noauto,exe$
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0022,user,nls=iso8859-1,ro 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0

Ok this seems stupid but it gives me that error because i was trying to put cd-text on the cd!?!? I don't know why that would screw it up? But if there are any answears to that question it would be appreciated.

i had the same problem with k3b a while back. i upgraded to cdrecord version 2.01-0.a38.1.mdk & it solved the problem. i got the rpm from a cooker source. you can add cooker sources by following the steps at Easy URPMI .

PLEASE NOTE: cooker packages can be very unstable. don't go hog wild upgrading all kinds of things from cooker. just get the latest version of cdrecord & any dependencies it might want. if you decide to get other things from cooker, use at your own risk.
