Cant start 2009 portable and cant install desktop

Hi,
I downloaded Mandriva free 2009 and installed on my portable. When I start Mandriva, it runs for a while (graphic (progression bar) and some text (everything seems OK)), then it stops with just a blinking curser on the screen. Nothing more happens. If I press Alt-F1 I get the terminal and I can login and then halt. Graphics come back and the system stops normally.
I cant install on my desktop. I quickly get to a point where it says "No CD-rom found". Everything works fine with 2008 free on both machines.
The only downloads I have found are from 4/10 10:40:06 - any newer?
Any solutions?

If you can get to a terminal, post the relevant part of

#dmesg >abc.txt

Also

#lspci

do you have any special boot time kernel parameters in Mandriva 2008?

Hi Amani,
I found out, that if I installed with Gnome instead of KDE an error concerning the graphics card would come up during installation (or was it start-up), but I was directed to a pop-up screen where I could select another card. I selected a S3 UniChrome Pro and it worked. So using Gnome I am OK. I have since seen in Errata, that there may be a way of getting around the problem and install with KDE. So far so good.
I have no special boot time parameters.
Do you have any idea why I get "No cdrom found"? With 2008 there is no problem.
Thanks
torben
