Cant install apps without my installation dvd...?

Hi,

I'm using the Mandriva 2008.1 KDE version, and when i'm trying to install the prozGUI download manager it gives me this message: "Please insert the medium named "Mandriva Linux - 2008.1 (Powerpack) - Installer"... I figured there must be a way to install applications without using my installation dvd every time...?

All i know about Linux is what i have learned in the past week, so please be gentle in your answers

Welcome to LQ!!

When using the package manager, you will need to set it up to use any of the various online repositories. There should be a menu item for this. (You can also hand-edit the config file in /etc.

this will get you started:

It also sends you to the Mandriva wiki for more details

Following installation, the package manager is configured to use the Software Media Sources on the Installation CD(s) / DVD. To use Software Media Sources from the Internet, go to the Easy URPMI WEB site and follow the directions there. I have written an article on my LQ Blog to help those new to Mandriva better understand what this is all about.

Remove (or disable) the CD/DVD sources in the Media Manager.
