Can you guys watch DVD's in Mandriva 2005?

Just curious, but are you guys able to watch DVD movies in Mandriva 2005? The reason I ask is that I have it installed on my laptop (Inspiron 600m) and 2 computer desktops. They all have the libdvdcss 1.2.9 installed and the default versions of Kaffeine and Totem, along with VLC player. They all crash and give me strange errors. Totem says the DVD may be encrypted (but it'll play for 30 seconds. And yes, I've rebooted after installing the libdvdcss). Kaffeine says I don't have access to the DVD (even though I am able to jump around scene selections). And, VLC just closes the DVD without giving any errors, but the VLC player toolbar is still available. Only the DVD Window closes because of some error I am getting that's related to the DVD movie.

Yes, I have tried different DVD's. Burned DVD's and original DVD's. And yes, they are all clean with no scratches. In fact, they play fine in my DVD player system and in Windows XP.

Any ideas? Can you guys view DVD's fine in your Mandriva 2005LE???

In fact i saw "The Butterfly Effect" just a few hours ago in my new laptop; worked fine, I have watched DVDs in 10.1 too. maybe upgrading to a later version of libdvdcss would work???
I have:
libdvdcss2-1.2.9-1.1.102plf
libkaffeine0-0.6-1mdk
kaffeine-0.6-1mdk
I think you have the same installed, right??

EDIT: have you tried opening kaffeine through the terminal, what is the output during the crashes?

You can try to upgrade kaffeine. My old kaffeine 0.6 was horrible unstable, but I found a 0.7 package on the cooker repositories that no longer crashes.

You can add the cooker repositories going to the easy urpmi website (google for "easy urpmi") and then select cooker as your distro and get some repositories.
