Can not get second lap top connected to wireless

the following is my current set up.

dell desk top (optiplex)running Mandriva 2007 (free) I've only been running this linux for about two weeks now at home ( i use different flavors of linux at work) so i wipped the disk and install the 2007 version. desk top is hooked up to a DSL modem then from there i have a belkin DI524 wireless router for my lap tops. now to me the cool thing was KDE found my network automatically after the installed.

Lap top #1 is running windows XP Pro all current patches installed and Im able to connect to the wireless network.(built in wireless)

lap top #2 running windows XP Pro all current patches installed using a belkin wireless g card. this lap top is the one in question. I can see other wireless networks in my area but i can not see my wireless network. I have a WPA key and i put the key in when i tried to connect still no joy. I've unistalled the belkin software and reinstalled still no joy. i have a IBM that i put the belkin wireless card in and i get the same thing. I wasnt having this problem untl i wiped the disk and loaded mandriva 2007

is there a setting that I'm missing somewhere? wife is getting real mad right now and its like 105 degress in the day and 90 at night so it's to hot to sleeping in the dog house... Can someone help me out here? thanks

Installing Linux is not the problem, try turning off the WPA on the wireless router and see if you can make a connection and/or see the wireless router.

Hint: once you see your wireless router make sure you have the correct key and the correct encryption.
