Can Mandriva 2011 be installed on/booted from a USB Flash Drive?

I have an Acer laptop that's running Windows 7 for work reasons. I like Linux and currently have a USB Flash Drive that's Ubuntu 11.04 and I'm able to boot from that flash drive anytime I want to use Ubuntu instead of Windows.
Can I do the same for Mandriva? Can it be set up on a Flash Drive so that I can simply boot straight into Mandriva 2011?

Yes you can do the same for Mandriva. They even sell Mandriva bootable from a flash drive, that's proof enough. :)

Thank you for your answer. I brought up the store on the Mandriva website and saw a Flash (Mobile pendrive OS) listed but when I clicked on it it says it no longer exists.
I'm sure because of the Flash Drive for sale as you mentioned it shows Mandriva works on it. I know of some good deals I can get on a 4GB flash drive that is fast. Do you know where I can find instructions on how to install Mandriva on a flash drive and have it boot from a Flash Drive?

If you have the ISO image of 2011 you could do your flash drive easily. Read this:

I found a best and easy way:

as live-DVD (with possibility to install from live mode)
as install-DVD
as image for flash where you can boot to the live and/or install modes

To create live/install-DVD, you can use your favorite CD/DVD writer ( for more information, see the section called Writing CD and DVD images). To create bootable flash drive, you can use several methods:
Create a bootable flash drive via dd

For creation of a bootable flash drive using 'dd' command, open console and type the next commands:

su -
dd if=/path/to/iso/image of=/path/to/flash/drive bs=1M

where is /path/to/flash/drive is path to the your flash drive (usually it /dev/sdb).
