Unhappy can I install usb-ohci module when I already have usb-uhci?

Good evening,

i'm quite a newbie with Linux and i have a problem using my digital camera (olympus c220) with my laptop (toshiba satellite 1670s). I also have a USB memory key (buffalo clipdrive) that works fine and that i can mount without any problems.
But it seems my camera works with usb-ohci module instead of usb-uchi wich is the module that is installed on my laptop.
I tried insmod usb-ohci but i get an error message
Quote:
insmod usb-ohci
Using /lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/drivers/usb/usb-ohci.o.gz
/lib/modules/2.4.21-0.13mdk/kernel/drivers/usb/usb-ohci.o.gz: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
I wandered if those two modules could cohabitate or if there can only be one.

thanks for ny help

Need some additional clarification. Which modules loads i.e. ohci, uchi is dependent on what USB chipset is in the computer. So you can't have both modules loaded at the same time unless you had two different USB controllers.

Are you talking about the same laptop or two different computers?

Well I'm only talking of one laptop. Therefore it means that I can't have my usb memory key working and switch easily using my digital camera?
Or is it possible to load usb-uhci driver and then usb-ohci depending on whether I use my usb key or my camera?
But I don't know how I can unload a module

thanks for your answer

Then what computer are we talking about the camera working on? The laptop?

Look at www.linux-usb.org and check for compatibility with your camera.

I'm not up with the specifics of modules but I can tell you that I had an built in UHCI and PCI card OHCI USB installed at the same time and the devices atached to each interface all worked so I reckon it can be done.

So, we are talking about a different computer with two different USB controllers. One controller requires the ochi and the other uhci. Your laptop only has one controller and it requres the uhci module.

You can try gphoto http://www.gphoto.org/ but it might be an incompatability between the camera and the module.

I only have one computer using Mandrake OS.
On this computer wich is a laptop I have a single USB port.
If I connect a usb key memory on that single usb port on that single laptop it will work but if I connect my camera on that same single usb port on the same laptop it won't work.
If I look what modules are installed on my laptop then I see usb-uhci.
Looking on the Internet made me find out that my olympus camera needed usb-ohci instead of usb-uhci.

Then my question is : may i have those two modules installed on my laptop or is it impossible.
