Can each desktop have its own resolution?

I searched for this but couldn't find the answer...

Is it possible to run multiple desktops of differing resolutions?

e.g. Desktop #1 could be 1280 x 1024 for basic apps and usage; Desktop #2 could be 1600 x 1200 for high graphics applications; etc.

I meant the multiple (default 4) desktops that show up in the launch bar - so that you can have different apps running in different windows. Not dual monitors - the little squares in the bar you click to switch. It's cool that you can have different backgrounds (wallpapers) for each desktop, so I was wondering if it's possible to have different resolutions.

Sorry - not completely fluent on the Linux terms for all these things! :)
