Can't set Firefox as default browser under Mandrake/kde

Hello.

I've been trying to set Firefox as default browser, but I cannot.

I have already read the document located at: kb dot mozillazine dot org slash Setting_Your_Default_Browser (Since this is my first post, I shouldn't type a URL), but It doesn't work. I've also run: export BROWSER="firefox".

When I run "echo $BROWSER" (without quote marks), It does prints firefox, but It neither works.

I am using Linux Mandrake v10.1, KDE v3.2 and the Firefox latest stable version.

Thanks for your attention and I hope you can help me.

Best regards,

Gustavo Narea.

I found this message in mandrivausers (dot) org:

If you have Mandrake 10.1 or previous, there are a few things you need to do. First, go into Components and File Associations, and set HTML, etc, etc, etc to the browser you want.

Then after this, run gnome-default-applications-properties, set the default browser in here to the one you want (this is relevant even if not running Gnome!). If you can't run this, it means you need to install gnome-control-center. This can be done with urpmi gnome-control-center.
Instead of only type "firefox", you have to type the path to firefox with a " %s" ending. For instance:
Code:

/usr/bin/firefox %s
