Can't make a bootable mandriva disc from ISO
I don't understand what the heck is going on.
This will be about the tenth time I tried. On XP I try to burn the DVD image from an ISO, it works but the soon to be Mandriva machine will NOT boot from that DVD. I tried the Windows XP CD and it worked fine so its not a hardware issue.
When I use Nero to burn the image it barks at me saying the cluster size or something doesn't match up. Then I use another app called Active ISO burner it just burns ISO's.
Same thing but no error.
I was able to boot from the Mandriva 2006 DVD with no problems.

XP can not natively (no drag n drop etc) create a CD from an ISO file. One needs to use an application like Nero or Roxio.
You must select the option "create CD from image" or the disk will not be bootable. I do not have a recent copy of Roxio or Nero so I can not say if burning DVD images is different.
Did you create the 2006 DVD yourself? If so what application did you use to create it? Did you check to verify the DVD image was downloaded correctly?

As stated I used Nero.
Nero has an option to make a disc from an image. I have done it previously with no problems on other versionf of mandriva.
I also did the same thing with my suse download - no problems.

I just tried burning the CDs, and I have booted with CD1.
After it formats I get media.cfg not found.

I know this won't actually help, but you are no orphan if you are talking about the ISO of Mandriva 2007 Free.
My personal system, the machine at which I sit as I type is running Mandriva 2006 which I intended to upgrade with the official download ISO. No way baby. Burned coaster after coaster. Even went down the WinXP Nero road. Tried with my Acer laptop, NO Way. Even drove over to the next town and used my friends sat link pulled in a fresh download and burned another set of drink coasters. Me thinks it be bung this 2007 ISO fom Mandriva. Sorry I can't be of more help. Myself? I will purchase the set from Mandrive and register it, but not until the new year. In the meantime, I am more than happy with 2006 anyway.
Best of luck to you

I downloaded the CDs and burned them fine. I booted and installed with no problems.
There's something stinky with that DVD ISO.
