Can't login on KDE or GNOME

Hi, I'm running Mandrake 9.2 and have this problem with KDE and GNOME, again. After I rebooted my computer, I tried to login on KDE. The splash screen appeared, and then just stopped at the System Services icon. I waited a bit and the whole system just crashed. I also tried to go to the command line but it was frozen as well. Same applied for Gnome.
Any ideas?

check your dmesg to see if you have anything hanging during boot. When did this start? Was it an upgrade, did you change your network or other service? A bit more info could help...

Well, I never installed anything, upgraded, or done any major changes to the system. It just happened one day after a reboot. Dmesg doesn't seem to show anything hanging either.
Please help!

EDIT: As a matter of fact, please disregard this question, looks like I'm going to upgrade to Mdk 10.0 ;)

Okay :)

Just some words of advice, I tried the 10 beta version about (a month?) ago, and everything installed fine [no errors], however, when I reboot into X, my screen turned white!!

What sucked about that is that X thought everything was fine (I couldn't find anything wrong in the logs) and it seemed that I was able to use my mouse, and if I moved to the KDE menu, I was able to open programs... however, everything was still in white.. it was so bad, that even switching to a console didn't work (it was white also)...

I hope that it was just a bug, however, I had no way to report it...! (I didn't have html at the command line running. I was on a laptop, and didn't have a chance to set up my encryption protocols to allow it to talk to my AP... Anyway, good luck with your upgrade!:p

Ah, I took yet another look at dmesg and it appears that Samba had hung during boot. No idea how I overlooked that.:o Either way, still going 10.0; thanks for the support ryeman!

Not a problem..! ;)

I found that the logs in /var/log to be very useful for finding problems like that.

Good luck with your upgrade!
