Can't install on a Dell 3000
I cannot get my install to go on my Dell 3000. I was wondering if anyone knew of any existing problems with Dell's. On that same machine I can install Linspire, Suse and Fedora. When I try to install Mandriva it won't even get into the actual install, it craps out before the install starts, it seems like during some kind of system scanning.
I can use those exact disks and install them on an old HP machine.

probably it is some kind of unhandled hardware. if you could figure out what it is hanging on, hten you could option it out. try to see if there are options for the kernel boot of the installation. sometimes it tells you to push f2 or somting like that, before it boots the kernel of the install disk. there you can see boot options, make it as simple as possible. you probably dont need usb, hotplug, and al that. so see if you can find out what is makeing that kernel not boot. that should get it too boot, and it will not effect the installation of the different kernel. i cannot be sure, but i have had systems that did this and that helped. it is usually like hotplug. al you need for an install is access to the disk.

Did you experience any type of problem while installing. When I get home I will try it again and post the error that I get and see if anybody knows what it might be.
How do you like Mandriva?

It was ok, my first Linux distro, it's a lot like Windows in my opinion, basically it is like a Linux for Dummies to me, very basic.
