roughly something like that

then i get to a black screen with commands alt+F1 (here)

liteon cdrw/dvd combo drive

You could disabling apic in the bios then hitting F1 after it boots from the cd and type, linux noapic nolapic That's a lowercase 'L' in the nolapic line. That possibly might help.

If not you can try installing the 2.4.25 kernel instead of the default 2.6.3 kernel but hitting F1 when it boots from the cd and type alt1 and go from there.

stands for Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller, its something to do with how the computer/os handle interupts... I should propably know more, but forgot :-)

I had the same problem with it trying to do something to my SATA drives, trying to find a distro that will pick up SATA RAID, I read mandrake did, but had so many probs with the installer I left it (Once I got past waiting ages for the SATA it wouldnt pick up my network card settings properly)

You are my god! I was having trouble installing 10 Official with it locking up at ESR value before enabling vector: 00000002. I'd tried the noapic by itself, but no go. Tried what you suggested with nolapic, and wham bam thank you maam, it worked!

Thank you!!
