Can't believe it. Internet will not connect
I can't believe that I have to ask for help connecting the internet. I have a router, then my modem, set the connection to DHCP, and expected things to happen. Not so. Windows, MEPIS, Linspire, other Mandrake versions all connected without any intervention on my part. There must be a quick fix to this. Help.

what distro are you using now that wont work? PS: check all your cables and such
|
Oops, an oversight. I am using 2005LE. My cables etc.. are fine, as I have good connection with both Windows and MEPIS at present.

Somehow, the ghosts in the machine went to work, and by some mysterious process things are functioning as they should.

I've had a similar problem. I'm working on PCs for my church. I only have a cable modem. When I switch PCs, I have to reset the power on the modem or the PC can't connect. I'm having this problem with Windows, Knoppix, and 2005 LE.

run /etc/init.d/network restart and/or boot on failsafe and type in drakxservices and see if your network is set to start @ boot time.
