I've just installed Mandrake 10 and everything works fine except burning CDs. I have Lite-On 48x24x48 and I tried using Nautilius CD burning, but when I start the burning process nothing happens and then I get an error: "there was an error writing to CD" and the detail say:

What do I do about it? Is there some other burning software you would recommend? Reading from the CD works fine.
Thanks, I installed k3b and it worked. But I have a problem - I can't get k3b to append a new session to a CD. When I choose the option to continue a multisession disc and start burning, k3b won't even attempt to read the CD, it says "Retrieving session information" but in fact the CD drive is idle and then it says the CD is not appendable (which is not true). Any ideas what to do?
It was mounted - how do I unmount it? There is an option called "unmount" (right click on the cd icon) in k3b but it didn't change anything. The cd erasing also does not work - it seems as though k3b has no connection with the cd-rw drive.
I managed to unmount the cd though the control panel and got k3b to work. But I noticed I need to restart the computer each time for the mount/unmount to actually take effect and it's not convenient to do so because when I unmount the cd I can't access the data on it. Or am I wrong? I'm a newbie Linux user so I may miss something here. Is it necessary to unmount the cd (and restart computer) to burn data?
It's only necessary to unmount the CD in order to burn data to it. You shouldn't need to restart the computer. after you burn the disc, jus mount it again and you will see what's on it (unless it's an audio CD which you cannot mount anyway).
In Mandrake, I'm guess that your discs are automatically mounted when inserted. You could try just ejecting the disc and re-inserting it. Of course you can always do it manually by going to the command line and typing
mount /mnt/whatever
Generally speaking, Linux is very much unlike Windows in that there is very little you do that requires you to restart the computer.
I guess I'm having problems with mounting/unmounting the cd. I run the terminal in my gnome desktop, I enter "su", then root password, then I enter "umount /mnt/hdc" and the terminal says:
umount: /mnt/hdc: device is busy
umount: /mnt/hdc: device is busy
All other programs are closed, I tried ejecting the CD, but it didn't help. If I type "mount /mnt/hdc", I get this:
mount: permission denied
When I navigate to "/mnt/hdc" I can read the contents of the CD, so it looks like it's mounted all the time. From what I can see I only manage to burn data the first time after starting Mandrake, then I can't get it to work again. Can you help me with this?
Now I'm wondering whether you can import previous session into k3b so that you can see the files previously written on the cd within the k3b window? If not, is there another burning program that would allow me to do this?
