Install devede, it's there in the Ubuntu repositories, i don't know how you install stuff in Mandriva but this may lead to something

I checked, any the devede package is in the contrib repository (on the ftp mirror of your choice), so you can install it using the Mandriva Package Manager (GUI) or urpmi (command line).

You're welcome Nigel, but be careful, devede is a huge CPU resource hog, my Dual-Core CPU core temperatures go upto 60-65 deg.C and CPU usage goes upto 100%, as per my conky. It's best to close all other programs when making a video ISO. Enjoy, just don't fry your CPU .

I use tovid.

It's in the repo...
Code:
glenn@GamesBox:~$ rpm -qa | grep tovid
tovid-0.31-6mdv2010.0
info...

As I'm a simpleton . Ill give a stupid answer just to make shaw.
I personally would buy a new DVD player that supports divx all i ever do is burn the .avi file as is using everyone's favourite burning app K3B.
As my friends go to great lengths to find odd and weird windows media codec's they think I wont be able to play, some times I use ffmpeg to change the wmv file to an .avi
I don't see any point in turning a 700mb avi file into a 4 gig video ts file the quality wont improve and ties up the computer for an hour.
most dvd players sold in the last few years will play .aviĘs and other divx files my players aren't that new and are cheap.
