Burining CDs with Mandrake 10?
 

I have a CD-R drive here and I just installedit... it canread CDs fine,
but I'm wondering if I can imitate what XP does with just dragging and
dropping files to a CDRW disc? If that can't be donr, what software
should I use on Mandrake 10?

It works fine for me with Gnome. If I open Nautilus and type "burn:" at the address, I'm able to write files to the disk by simply dragging and dropping them inside that Window. I don't know if that's a Nautilus / Gnome feature of if Ubuntu did a great job integrating it.

Still, if you want to install a good Burner Application for Linux, I'd recommend K3B:

I've found K3B to be the richest feature-wise out of the three. Nero is also available for Linux. Even though the Linux version is free, you need to have bought the Windows version in order to download the Linux version. I gave "Nero Linux" a shot yesterday and I could not find most of the features I'm used to with Windows, such as creating playable audio disks and VCD's.

I'm still wondering how on earth I would be able to convert video files (mpg, avi, divx, xvid) into playable DVD's of VCD's in Linux. There should be a converter somewhere. It does not have to burn, just convert. I could use Gnomebaker or Nero to burn the media once converted I guess. Gnomebaker can create playable audio disks from mp3's, but who does that anyway today since everything seems to support mp3 just fine :rolleyes:

Ok, typing burn: didn't work... it just said it isn't a valid location.

No problem using k3b for dragging and dropping to a cdrw on 10.2.

If you are actually using 10.0 it has a few bugs and I never tried a cdrw disc, so if it doesn't work upgrade to the latest k3b.
