OK, I am new to Linux, so I decided to take an old computer I managed to score from an office that was down-sizing, and installed Mandriva One 2010 on it. So far I'm loving it, but I have a few problems I'm trying to work out.
1. My music won't play. I have my music on an external HDD, and when I click on a song to play it, an error box pops up that says internal data flow error. Same goes for videos.
2. I checked the box to not use 3D desktop effects, but I would like to go back now and turn them on. How can I do that without having to go through installing the entire OS again?
3. How do I download and install programs? (I'm wanting Banshee)
you might need the full 3g ntfs driver to read ntfs drives(only a guess)
try vlc media player install it from the package-manger (configure your computer)
and go to easy urpmi
go system tools / desktop effects
system tools is the svrewdiver/shifter icon (i assume your using kde)

I'm using Gnome. I assumed I was DLing KDE from their site, but I guess I wasn't paying attention and clicked the wrong button. Oh well, I've heard Gnome was more stable than KDE anyways...
