boot virus

Hi,

Just installed Mdk10 on an old machine (celeron 600;128 RAM)
Before the installation, I had a boot virus alert when rebooting with the first Mdk10 install disk.
I stopped the installation, and rebooted with a Win98 FDISK and Format Floppy, but was unable to delete the partitions. There was a problem with the extended partitions.

So, I tried another installation of Mdk10, and and choosed to format all the disk during the partition.

The installation succeeded, but when booting the computer, it stills shows me the boot virus alert, and I don't have the grafical boot interface (must write "Linux"). Furthermor, it looks like Mdk partitions only ocupy one half of the HD.

, but

if you could help me

Thanks!

Hi nicoc,
Some old bios have a routine to check if the first sector of the disk, which is known as boot sector has a proper dos/windows boot record. The linux boot record is different so, it alarms supposing there is a virus in this sector. You have to enter the bios setup and disable this option. The name of this option and the section of the setup where it is varies from bios to bios but, you will know it when you see it.
