Ok, here we go again. After installing all new updates including new kernel, i installed cedega with no problem, but when i get to the end of installing half life and it kills my current session and brought me to my login screen? after that happened i went to try and run blender and the same thing happens again? I didn't change anything else since i've re-installed mandriva but everything worked before up-dating?
OK, so you reinstall Mandriva and Blender works OK. You install Cedega, then Half Life (which crashes the session and returns you to the graphical log in screen), and now when you try to run Blender, the session crashes and you get the graphical log in screen. Is that correct? If it is, you may have found your culprit. Remove Half Life, reboot your computer and see if Blender works again (it may not) if the Half Life installation changed some setting which was not restored when you removed it (due to the session crash at the end of the installation). If removal of Half Life does not restore correct operation of Blender, try removing Cedega as well. Post back and let us know what happens.
Yes, what you said is correct, but could you tell me how to go about un-installing HL? I can find it in my home directory, but should I just throw that HL directory in the trash or is that something i should do from the console?
ok, So inside of cedega I went to Tools--->Game Folder--->Del and that deleted my HL directory.I checked in my home directory and there is no longer a HL directory. I re-booted my computer and still the same problem but now i don't have a clue how to remove cedega. if you could shed some light on how to do that. and thanks again for all your support..
How did you install Cedega? Was the installer an rpm file? If you installed Cedega from an rpm file using the Software Manager, you will be able to remove it in a similar way:
Open the Mandriva Software Manager (System > Configuration > Packaging > Install, Remove, & Update Software in the menu system).
Type cedega in the search box (top) and press the ENTER key.
The cedega package should be listed in the package list. Clear its check mark and click the Apply button.
