Blank Screen After Install
I have installed Mandrake 9.2 about 5 times, and I keep running into the same problem. Current install is on a second drive (slave on primary controller). I am choosing the high security setting, and checking off all install option (not, however, going into the individual selection).
I try to make a boot disk, and that has failed each time, but that is not my main problem. After I finish the install and reboot, I can boot successfully into Win2K, but when I try to boot into linux (using lilo), everything looks good during the posting process, but when it should be going into the GUI login, i just get a blank screen. There is some HD activity for about 10 seconds after the blank screen, but then nothing.
If I use the fail safe mode, I can get to a shell. Typing xinit yields the same problem as before. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeremy
btw, the video card seems to be compatible. the intire gui installation works fine...

Hi,
While you were installing linux, did you see if your video card has been installed completely or not. Most probably it must not have and that is why there is a display failure.
If you can get into safe mode, then run the XFdrake from /sbin to configure your video card and see that you test the setting before you restart in normal mode. There are other tools also like drakXconfig or sort off that can get you into the installation part oif hardware from prompt.
BYE,
Dino.

Things are working now. Not sure if this was the culprit or not, but I pulled an unused pci video card (working one is onboard) and reinstalled. After restarting, I had a LILO option, Secure Linux, which wasen't there before. That dosen't work, but the Linux option seems to be working fine now...Typing this in Konqueror right now.
