BitDefender updating

how do you manually update the virus definitions in Mandrake 10? i downloaded cumulative.zip, used 'unzip' and then tried

bdc --update
bdc <path> --update

and still the package tells me that there are no virus updates available.
also the installation directory is on /opt/bdc, different from the one stated in the HowTo's (usr/local/shared/bdc7 ?)

any suggestions? thanks

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,

Please make sure that you run ./bdc --update from the root account, because
BitDefender needs administrative privileges in order to write the files to
disk.
Also, make sure that UpdateHttpLocation is set to
http://upgrade.bitdefender.com/update7

We are looking forward to your reply.

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,

Are you using a proxy to access the Internet??

Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,

After downloading the cumulative.zip , uncompress the archive and copy the new
files to /opt/bdc/Plugins . Now you must change the file permissions and modes
to the files in /opt/bdc/Plugins:

cd /opt/bdc/Plugins/
chown root.root *
chmod 644 *

We are looking forward to your reply.
