Best software for DVD/CD burning
I have K3B for DVD/CD burning but am having no end of problems with using CD RWs (burning/erasing/reburning). From my understanding K3B is a GUI that activates various command line applications. Can I change the applications that K3B launches when I click an option in K3B (eg "Make a new data CD" presently launches cdrecord), or are they fixed?
Can anyone recomend another package that I could download an RPM for that does DVD+R/DVD-R/DVDRW/CD/CDRW burning? One further question, when using CDRW can you add files to those already on the CD if there is room, or do you have to erase the whole CD every time you want to alter the contents of the CD before burning to it again? |
an update to the latest cdrecord should fix all your cd-r problems :)
2.1.1 is the latest. If you havent already run k3bsetup as root :) |
Thanks,
What do you mean by "If you havent already run k3bsetup as root"? I have used k3b as root to burn /home to DVD. Is it in k3b setup where I change the applicaions launched by k3b? |
Quote:
it sets up permissions and check available burning apps with cdrw's i forgot to mention two important things 1 they dont like supermount. you will have to most likely umount you cdburner after you put the disc in. umount /mnt/cdrom or turn supermount off. with CDRW discs you always have to make sure you write in ststart mulitsession mode if you want to add stuff that create new cd in K3b click burn and go to settings tab . under multisession mode |
Thanks again,
I had a look at k3b setup as a user (not root) and found where all the applications that k3b launches are listed. However I could not find an option to update these apps. For example the cdrecord version listed in k3b setup is a bit out of date so I want to update it with the newest version. How do I do this? |
Use the mandrake control center to update your software.
