automatic shutdown in Mandrake 9.2

I've got following problem. It concerns automatic shutdown in Mandrake 9.2. There are problems with
cutting off the power. It seems as if power from hard drives was turned off. But I am left with final screen. When I press ESC the last sentence is 'Power down' and that's it. What can be done about it?. The problem appears only sometimes. At times computer shuts off without a problem. Has anyone had such problem before?.
Thanks for help.

If you're using lilo edit /etc/lilo.conf and remove the words "acpi=off".
If you're using grub edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and remove the words "acpi=off".
This should start it working properly from the next time you reboot.
