Audio Problem with Mandrake 10.0

Well I have mandrake 10.0 installed and i got all of my old windoze backups, and to my suprise a problem arouse. I can many video files fine, but when it comes to .asf, .wmv, and some .avi, the video shows and plays perfectly, but the sound is entirely static. A few solution I've gotten for this problem, is getting a new AV player. So i downloaded xmms, but it wont install properly. Could any of you help me out with this problem?

try installing mplayer from installdrake.. it's probably codec related...

Thats cool, but I havnt been able to find an RPM of Mplayer. Could you give me a link, because i just cant seem to find it.

If you're new to Mandrake, I suggest you learn to use urpmi. It should be in the menu under configuration install package. This will bring up a whole list (searchable) of apps you can install without the assle of having to find rpms.

First you have to setup your system so that it knows which websites to go download the apps from. Search the forum or google to learn how...
