Audio cd's don't play in Gnome- mandrake 10

I can't get audio cd's to play in Gnome. The cd, and track names show up in the default cd player and totem, but when you click play nothing happens, it stays "stopped". They play fine in KDE, both in the default cd player and totem. Any suggestions?

Is it just audio CDs or also media present in the HDD? IF no media is playing, maybe you need to check the sound server. Check all ALSA settings.
Also check for any known bugs. I think I have heard this problem before but cant remember where!

Hard drive media, and streaming radio play, but I seem to only have the left channel ( Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, Klipsch promedia) . If I uncheck the cd script for autoplaying of audio cds in preferences I can get the cd to play in totem, again only left channel. Odd how everything is working fine in KDE.
