Angry arts freezes! Sound only with mplayer + arts disabled

I had Mandrake 9.1, 9.2 and now 10.0 official...
No sound in all distros!!!
The only way i can get sound working is with mplayer and arts disabled...:-(
But with this settings I can't use other multimedia apps and can't hear sounds from games...
I'm running Mandrake 10.0 now on a AMD Athlon 2400+ with VIA 8233 soundcard.
I've tried 'artscontrol' it says I have some problems with 'artsd', it not execute with realtime scheduling settings and it is not suid executed.
How can I set my sistem to run artsd in realtime etc.... and suid at startup????
What else I can try to do???
I've looked in every mailing archive and tried to google for something that could help me but I found nothing.
Please help me!!!
Thanks in advance!
Excuse me for my bad english... ;-)
