Apt-get and Mandrake?
Is it possible to use apt-get with package-heavy distributions like Mandrake and Fedora Core? Or would this cause conflicts with the OS package tools? Since many package tools like the ones in Mandrake and Fedora track what packages are installed and resolve dependancies, I would be worried about having two conflicting copies of a package installed at once - one installed by Mandrake, one installed by apt. Any comments?

apt works fine with RedHat / Fedora. Fedora comes standard with yum, a program like apt. You can get packages at <<ayo.freshrpms.net>>. I don't know if anybody has apt for Mandrake.
The FreshRPMs repos, and others I've seen, start out pretty much as clones of the original / official repos, so there isn't too much worry about conflicting package versions.

For mandrake try easyurpmi in you browser..
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
go through the setup steps, 1 to 3, and it will give you a script to paste into the Konsole, that will register with rpmdrake (software installer)
.
It looks after dependencies for you, not sure about cross-breeding deb and rpm though.
