Just been reading up on apt-get, which apparently handles dependencies reliably, but it is not my system (whereis apt-get tells me this). I wonder then what, if not this, what I should use to install Xmame (w/ dependencies).
I have 2 of 4 Xmame .deb packages; xmame-x_0.106-2.1_i386.deb and xmame-common_0.106-2.1_all.deb. I know it is 4 total because I have ran xmame-x_0.106-2.1_i386deb in the past (SimplyMEPIS then) through a GUI, and it told be as much. Versions of libasound2 and libc6 in fact, where the other 2.
I don't know if it is possible to write these deb. pkgs to the package manager database (as I understand it repositories are referenced and downloaded online, these are on my sysem), but even so I don't know what command I might use to install these 'as one'. Any ideas?
Okay, looks like i'm not using those .deb pkgs anymore. I knew about that command (i've used it once or twice), but not much, the whole mirror thing will be great if I can ever get my modem recognised in Mandriva!
Found a site with xmame rpms for Mandriva 2008.0, guess i'll have to download all these (a dependency pain!), and install with urpmi.
