Application Menu in Gnome

I have been using mandriva le for quite some time now with kde 3.3.2 and I decided to give gnome a go....

After installing gnome, I logged into it and I see that the applications menu at the top is empty. I have tried to do the updates-menu -v command with both my user and root within gnome and the menu items still do not appear.

I have also created a another user to test and when I login to gnome the menu's are still empty. Has anybody seen this problem before? and have they been able to fix it?

I normally just restart gnome: log out - log in. Not a very nice solution, but it updates my menus.

I've experienced the same thing. The menu just does not get populated, period. Still no fix though.

Its a problem with the xdg menus. I cant remember how to fix the error, but search on google or go to #gnome or #gnome-devel on the GIMPnet irc server.

Its ok. It seems like this problem is not just a Mandriva problem because I experienced it in Slack and searching on google shows that other distros have had the same problem.
