If urpmi say another package is needed then install it first or if it suggests it, accept it. By the way including error information enables people to respond to you more accurately.
Again, if you take a good 20 minutes (if that) to rtfm, (read the manual) then chances are you are going to find a solution before we help you find one.
True, I don't expect you to know a whole lot, but when a command outputs that kind of information, I think you're smart enough to realize it's important...
... when you checked ps -aux you should of been checking for giftd running not openft
close apollon and try running giftd -v again and see if it starts correctly... that error suggests that it was already running
also i think your problem can probably be fixed by closing apollon, deleting ~/.giFT/openFT/nodes and restarting it
... make sure you have the latest versions of apollon and giFT
