alsa 0.9.6/7 not working?
The 9.1 install puts on the alsa0.9.0rc8 sound driver. When I get into kde, I have a multitude of problems:

The volume control will only go to 31%
The volume control has no effect on the volume
In order to adjust the volume, I need to open kmix and adjust the PCM and Surround sliders, they are the only ones that seem to affect the actual sound.
I tried to install both the 0.9.6 & 7 alsa drivers, but they would not work at all. I opened this as a paid incident at mandrakeexpert and the best they could give me was "wait for 9.2 to be released in "a couple of weeks" (this was a month ago) and see if that fixed the problem since alsa0.9.6 comes with 9.2"
I've been letting this go since I actually do have sound, just not properly. However, I just put winex on and installed rollercoaster tycoon 2, but there is no sound. I'm thinking it could be related to my current sound issues.
First, has anyone gotten alsa0.9.6/7 working on 9.1 (as in drakeexpert gave me bum info)? And, if so, can you try to help me get it working? I'm sitting on a fresh install with only the alsa0.9.0rc8 drivers running, I haven't touched the sound settings other than to get it working in it's current state as I mentioned.
And/or... should I keep holding out for 9.2 or should I try looking at the current rc2 I'm seeing mentioned? I'm still a very new linux user, so I'm wary about going to a "testing" version of 9.2, but if everyone thinks it shouldn't be a problem trying it, I will.
