Two Questions which have become frustrating-


1) to connect to the internet as root I have to type at the command line
after boot up-

modem_run -f /usr/speedtouch/mgmt.o
pppd call adsl

Is there any way to get this to run at start up ?
Have tried speedbundle but doesnt "make install" correctly.
(gets stuck going to kernel_source dir)
Tried to write a script , made it executable and added dir to PATH.
Still no joy
Must be an easier

2) 9.2 wont shut down but 9.1 did

Have tried editing lilo.conf as follows-
noapic
apm=power-off
acpi = off
apm =off

all to noavail

9.2 download edition /dell xps r 400 PII 40 GB hardrive
kernel 2.4.22-21

Linux newbie with a little experience...sorry if this basic but
have been trying to solve both issues for one week now.
Any advice from experienced Mandrakers greatly received !

Hi apjonesy,

You may want to check that the daemon gets started on system startup.
Do this by starting the "Mandrake Control Centre" --> "System" then select "DrakXServices" and scroll down the list until you get to "Internet". Ensure that the "On Boot" option is selected. If you select start or stop you should see the LEDS on the modem come on or go off.

Sorry don't know anything about the powering off problem
