Hello:

After applying all the updates and patches everything works fine (after fixing the menu disappearing problem).

However, the user "root" now has large strange ugly fonts that are hard to read in Konquerer. Going into KDE config and trying to change the fonts does not work.

I have this probelm on two different machines with different hardware so it must be a bug of some sort.

I have been eveywhere looking for information but have not had any luck.

If anyone here knows how to fix this, I would sure appreciate it.

I'm not sure, but try this:
Go to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts (as root) and add

"75dpi" 0 ".dir" or "100dpi" 0 ".dir" or both

in the fonts.cache-1. I don't quite understand it, but it worked for me
