403 when trying to browse users' home pages with apache and mandriva 10.1

Hi,

I want to browse a user's public_html, did a chmod 711 on the user's home directory as well as a mkdir public_html in the user's home directory. Still a 403 is the case. I tried reading the manual and a howto and seemingly browsing user's home directory should work this way. Any suggestions? The root web page comes up as planned.

Thanks

Niklas

Thanks

i don't know what apache are u running and don't use mandriva but userdir is in mods-availavle folder wich is in the same folder as your htaccess and other config files.
I use apache2 and have a similar problem but in my case i found the module and loaded it but don't know how to enable it in my httpd.conf file . Yet

Hope it helps...cheers!
