I'm running Mandrake 10.1 CE on a Dell 1750 server (Xeon 2.8, Raid 1 SCSI HD's). I believe I've updated all the packages to current.
The server has crashed twice in the past day. By crash - it refuses to allow any ssh/httpd/etc connections. I can get a ping out of of the ethernet ports but that's the only response I can get. Did a hard boot, that cleared it up for a few hours, then it locked up again.
It's been running at it's current location for a few days without any problems as we begin to put it into production (and a couple of weeks here, before that). The only thing I can think of that I did today is urpmi php-xml (and I also installed wordpress, a blogger program). Neither strike me as something that should be locking up the server.
I'm stumped - and the server is offsite where I don't have access, hardbooting is a costly issue. What I'm wondering is:
- any ideas on what might cause this lockup?
- any thoughts on how to even begin to diagnose? The logs didn't really provide any info (other than that the logging ceased when the server locked up).
thanks!
