10.1 Network won't autoconnect at KDE start :(

hi
i'm experiencing so bizarre behaviour

it's very strange i pretty much know mandrake 10.x back to front
but since changing from 10.0 to 10.1 fresh install
i have to manually run Monitor Network connection and click connect network
everytime my computer boots

I've deleted and reconfigured the connection multiple times. and set Start network at boot but to no avail

This problem did nt seem to exist in 10.0 for me.

also i have enabled mousekeys in "configuration>KDE>Peripherals>Mouse>Mouse Navigation"
Everytime i reboot the setting remains ticked on
but doesnt work unless i disable and reenable it.

also didnt exist in 10.0

Have you checked the /etc/rc.d/rc5.d directory for the sysinit startup script labelled "S10network"? That should be a symlink to /etc/rc.d/init.d/network

If all of the above are present, then, after booting, type "/sbin/service network start" as root. if network starts then everything's fine, else there might be a defect in your copy of the script.

This is a common problem and the things you did are not necessary. Go into your Mandrake control center and play around with the network setting. check and uncheck and then check the boxes and apply the changes and reboot and it'll solve your problem, at least it did for me even though the "start at startup" was check boxed. Kind of weird, but it connects automatically at startup now.

a symlink was all that was needed the mandrake control centre wizard added the Service start network for me so no probs there
