i did the last post from memory and i was a little off
if you are using mandrake the mcc is a little buggy and sometimes sets it back to snd-emu10k1
so just keep trying to set it to just emu10k1 if it does! (i haven;t had problems after i upgrade the mcc from the updates from mandrake)
anyways here is a corrected instruction set
1. get the mandrake emu10k1-tools package
2. edit the emu10k1.conf file like i said earlier
3. the mandrake package comes with a file called "emu10k1-ctl" you can edit the conf file and then run this file and it should work
4. to have this file run everytime you reboot add the line "emu10k1-ctl" without quotes to the end of /etc/rc.d/rc.local
to test it you can edit the file, and run the program. check out aumix, it will have different entries than it did before you run the file.
it will say in order "vol" "bass" "treble" "pcm" ... etc instead of "vol" "pcm" etc...
just turn vol, pcm and ogain all the way up and you should have super sound
if you are using another distro you will need to run ./emuscript (or whatever the file is in the package from the creative open source package) at boot.
oh yeah if you are using the mandrake package you should have emu10k1.conf in /etc/... uninstall the package you have and install the mandrake rpm from the contrib packages (i think it is in contrib) to make it easier
