Hi everyone. I hope you all are doing well!
I setup a VNC between my Macbook (running OS 10.4) and my Mandriva 2010.0 box. I'm using the FreeNX server on the Mandriva box and the NX Client on the Macbook.
I can connect fine from the Macbook to the Mandriva box fine but the issue I'm having is accessing the DVD drive on the Mandriva box in Dolphin. When I try to access a disk in the drive, I get a prompt for the root password. When I enter the root password, I can access the drive fine. However, I want the user to be able to access it without root privedges. The reason is due to needing the drive to be accessable to a Windows program in Wine. I CAN access the drive as the user when logged into the console but not over the VNC.
I have already added the user to the cdrom and cdwritre groups in the /etc/groups file but no change. I can mount the drive in the command line and also access it using tools like k9copy, but not dolphin (without root).
I think this might be an issue with PolicyKit but I know nothing about it. I do know that I cannot change any settings in the PolicyKit GUI in Desktop Settings > Advanced > PolicyKit Authorization.
I would very much like for this user to have the same ability over the VNC as it does at the console concerning the DVD drive.
Thanks in advance!!!
Have a great day, everyone.
