*HELP!* Having trouble installing Mandriva 2007 spring free

Hi guys!

I have been trying to install mandriva Linux for quite some time, but every time I am about to install it, the screen merely goes blank and will not respond. I press enter on the install mandriva now, and it loads the kernel, then simply freezes. I have tried ACPI=Off and IDE=NoDMA by pressing F3 and adding the commands with spaces e.g. splash=silent acpi=off IDE=Nodma into the text box. It seems to have no effect. I'm using the DVD version of the free edition.

Thank you so much for reading!

Computer Info:
2 SATA HDD 160GB. C with Windows XP, D that is blank.
AMD Athlon X2 5600
ATi Radeon X1600XT 512MB
2GB DDR2 RAM.

I'm a complete Linux newbie, but I really want to get into it!

What's the latest line you see from the kernel loader before the system reboots?
What are your computer specifications? What about your graphics card?

Fixed

I managed to sort it out! I added the following options: ACPI=Off IRQPoll

Everytime i load linux now, i have to use those options. Its a bit annoying =| By the way, my 3D card and everything are in the computer info section on my first post, its always been there.

PS: I am using Linux to tell you all this now :D

You don't have to enter these options manually each time you boot up. Add them to /boot/grub/menu.lst, either by editing that file directly or through MCC/Boot.
