Mageia 4 fresh install won't boot.
This is probably an easy one but Grub Legacy tells me that my new Mageia 4 install file system is unknown and when I'm booted to Mageia 1 it won't mount the partition I installed 4 on. Mageia's installer offers to install grub 1 so I'm confused of what the problem is.
To clarify so we understand the situation, did you have Mageia 1 installed and just installed Mageia 4?
Are you trying to boot with Grub Legacy from Mageia 1?
What does your menu.lst entry for Mageia 4 look like? Have you tried chainloading it?

Post the command you use to mount and also what the output is when it fails.

I manually boot with grub legacy. I don't have grub installed on a partition shared with a O.S. I'm looking for the mount option which tries all files systems right now since I don't know the file system mageia 4 uses.

I reinstalled and formated the partition ext3 but I got a lot of boot errors. Grub legacy did boot it. Could the boot errors be because of the file system type? The tools/commands on Mageia 1 will not mount the btrfs file system. Mageia's disk tool reads it as btrfs but will not mount it. Grub says it is of 'unknown' type. I'm going to burn a grub 2 boot cd and see if it will boot mageia 4 with the btrfs file system. Thanks for the nifty command!
