Windoze, Windhoes, Winblows etc...
Hi,
I've been a LinuxQuestions.org member for quite sometime now, and during this time I've noticed a trend forming with a lot of new users. The spelling of the word Windows over time has had many variations (As shown in the thread title). Whilst we all know what the word is actually referring to...it does lead to a problem when using the search function to look for threads about Windows. I'm not sure how you would go about resolving this rather minor issue, but it would possibly decrease the number of duplicate posts in the newbie sections of the forum on the same topic. Like I've mentioned above, there is no real issue here...just might help newbie's resolve their issue quicker if they could actually find posts relating to their search queries. Cheers, -Kristijan |
Google is your freind.
Lets say, you wanted to find a thread about how to dual boot windows and gentoo. You type this in google. site:linuxquestions.org "dual booting" + win* + gentoo |
you would probably get the same/similar results searching for dualbooting + gentoo anyway. :)
nice suggestion, User Name, of using the * wild card though. Jeremy- is that built into the LQ search as well? titanium_geek |
or just use the tags
