Why VBulletin Board?

I am just curious, why did you choose vBulletin Board as the engine for this site?

There are plenty of free and Open Source ones, like phpBoard, IkonBoard, PHPNuke (with the discussion forum mod)...

PHP-Nuke:hmm i thought thats a portal it is buggy too
phpBoard:I haven't heardof that
ikonboard:flat file, uses too many cpu resources

Thats My commeents abvout 'em

And

Phorum:Nice but dun have many features

hmm I think Jeremy chose vBulletin as this site was started in June 2000 and the only choices then were vBulletin or UBB

Why not phpbb ? It is EXACTLY like vBulletin, but opensourced.

I think with as much hacking as jeremy has done on the site, he could probably call it his own now.. jeremybulletin :D

Beelzebub, did you know there are a few security holes in phpBB (I am support team @ phpBB (different username) and they said that in the phpBB Team Private Forum :D)

IkonBoard is no longer flat file, it uses an SQL backend. On June 2000, however, it was flat file. :)

i know that but its still Perl which hogs CPU resources
